Baltimore regular & WV native, Blaze Starr (1932-2015), once owner of the long-running 2 O'Clock Club on the city's infamous "Block" running W to E downtown. At 16 she began strip-teasing in Washington, D.C., where she likely bumped & grinded for the Nation's Leaders; by 18 or 19 she came to The Block. She is still loved by Baltimoreans to date, noted for her cat-like stage presence, gothic appeal, & fantastic dimensions 38-24-37. She posed for Paula Klaw & Diane Arbus, appeared in magazines & "loop" films 1950s-early 60s, & danced until the 80s. Her performances can be found online, & they can be very erotic, evoking primitive, slinking animals, roaring fires (even though much of her performance was dubbed with jazz, rendering her silent), winking lioness a'hunt.
Before she died, we nurtured a very brief correspondence, I purchased some of her handmade jewelry for the wife, & sent along some magazines for her to inscribe. She was always friendly & inquisitive in her letters, drew tiny hearts around her signatures.
