Honolulu, HI: Self published, 1966. Original photograph of Tatsue Hathaway, taken by her husband, Marshall. Tatsue is draped in floral robe, atop a small chair on tile floor. Notations on the verso: Marshall R. Hathaway, Rainbow C.C. [Camera Club], "Alone" (pencil); 47-854 Kam Hwy Kaneohe (ink). Pacific Sign & Decal rubber stamp on verso, w/ a blue ACCEPTED label. The photo was submitted & accepted at the Camera Club Council's 20th Annual Convention, held in Maui September 3-5, 1966.

 

Marshall Hathaway was born in Holyoke, was chief photographer at Transcript Telegram Newspaper, later a freelance photographer out of his home. He joined the Rainbow Camera Club in Hawaii, during military duty in the mid 1960s, when he met Tatsue, a Japanese survivor of WWII. Marshall would submit at least a few others to Rainbow while in Hawaii, including some provocative experimental work.
