Betty Brosmer (2 vintage crime magazines, 1956 / 1958)
New York: Skye Publishing, 1956, 1958. Two vintage magazines devoted to true crime stories, vice scandals, & copious ads. Similar to the superior FAWCETT publications, w/ excellent staged intro photos for nearly every article/essay. Featured is legendary Betty Brosmer by Keith Bernard (PD, presumed on TC as well). Brosmer was perhaps 1950s most prolific covergirl, fully developed w/ an incomparably small waist & sun-kissed blonde hair. Bernard (& Russ Meyer) were lucky enough to capture her best. Police Detective (V10 N5, Oct 1956, B/W throughout, 74pp. Bernard cover, switchblade kid, campus slayers, golf murder, high-heeled butcher, Detroit & Boston vice, hitch-hikers, "A Kiss Before Dying" film). Good condition. True Crime (V14 N6, May 1958, B/W throughout, 66pp. Heavier on pinup than early Skye titles, seemingly scarcer as well. Likely Bernard cover, ads( Meg Myles, Sophia Loren, Jayne Mansfield, Joyce Miles, Blaze Starr, Donalda Jordan), L. Ewing Scott, New York's 1/2 mile of vice, blackout pills, juvenile delinquents, gun molls). Very Good Plus. [Book ID: 125730] [Magazines]
