London, UK: Blighty / City Magazines, 1955-60. Twenty vintage British pinup & humor magazines devoted to glamour & pinup photography, cartoons & comic serials, humor, true crime fiction, astrology, films, w/ crossword puzzles. Long-running, formed during WWI for British servicemen, persisted through WWII, & renamed Blighty Parade in the late 1950s, featured color centerfolds men/women. Early issues include notable preliminary pages, w/ fantastic comic art by Arthur Ferrier, an already established illustration & dust jacket artist, & columns on foot care advice & beauty. Quality layout, design, & content, the only thing Blighty sacrificed was production values (pulpy stock). 64 Fleet Street, London, location, then in 1959, 45 St. Pancras Way. They even had a fashion line, & sold internationally by Services Central Book Depot, although the United States is not present in their distribution statement on rear panel.
