Cianuro di sera [The Shocking Pink Hat] (Vintage Italian hardcover edition)
Crane, Francis (author)
Milan, Italy: Gialli Giumar 5, 1959. Translation of "The Shocking Pink Hat." Vintage Italian hardcover in dust jacket, slightly larger than standard paperback. Featured is iconic Brigitte Bardot (by N. Sansone) on the front jacket panel. Bardot had already caused a stir w/ "And God Created Woman" (1957), & was Simone de Beauvoir's muse for her essay "The Lolita Syndrome" the year of this publication. The Gialli line is one of Italy's finest mid-century offerings, Italian translations of (mostly) American crime fiction w/ lush full-color pin-ups of the era's most popular models, even Jayne Mansfield, Lili St. Cyr, & June Wilkinson have appeared on the covers, & this particular series was rather short-lived (others ran into print runs of 100+). Very Good in Good dust jacket. Jacket front flap detached but present. Scarce Bardot collectible. [Book ID: 125724] [Mystery and Crime Fiction (MT)]
