Crime Detective (2 vintage crime magazines, Betty Brosmer and Jane Easton covers, 1952)
Dunellen, NJ: Crime Detective, Inc., 1952. Two vice & true crime magazines featuring pinup models Betty Brosmer (Weider) and Jane Easton. Hillman distributors, who also produced Crime Detective comics. This title, like Fawcett crime magazines, often featured staged photography with professional models, & many names have been changed to protect actual victims/perps. Classic ads, cover photography uncredited. Brosmer was perhaps 1950s most prolific covergirl, fully developed w/ an incomparably small waist & sun-kissed blonde hair. Bernard (& Russ Meyer) were lucky enough to capture her best. Jane from Iowa was a singer in Chicago before modeling for adult magazines & briefly an actress, notable for an entry in Johnny Stampanto's infamous brown book that included contact information for dozens of actress.
V12 N1, April 1952: Betty cover, R.C. Forbes, Hugh V. Haddock, Guri Bronn, Abbot Banks, D.L. Champion, Will Herman, Eric Greywood, L.L. Alberts, Fred C. Williams. tiny Barbara Nichols "test photo" ad (also in Startling Detective, January 1953).
V12 N8, November 1952: Jane cover, C.R. Cummings, Jay Hilton, Carlos Lane, Greywood, Thomas P. Caffrey, Champion, John T. Beckwith, Walter R. Stone, Herman. Linda Lombard ad.
Very Good Plus overall, both w/ small chips to spine ends, faint foxing, November w/ a few edge tears. Both rubber stamped "FIRST OFF PRESS."
