Ghita of Alizarr, and Ghita of Alizarr: The Thousand Wizards of Urd (Two volumes)
New York: Catalan Communications, 1985. Two volumes, large octavo softcovers, perfect-bound, 112pp and 1288pp, b/w throughout. Vintage erotic comics in graphic novel format, featuring Ghita, a woman warrior akin to "Xena" and a "lusty blend of Fanny Hill, Barbarella, and Joan of Arc," from the man behind Marvel's "Red Sonja," Playboy's "Moonshine McJugs," Heavy Metal's "Lann," and others. Playboy Playmate Laina Morrow poses in idealized Ghita costuming designed by Thorne and others, featured in b/w photographs at the rear of each volume, with background data on the Ghita concept. Both volumes saw reprints in 1990s and 200s, with the true first exceptionally scarce. Volume 1 (2nd ed., 1st print, 1985, 0874160111), Volume 2: The Thousand Wizards of Urd (1st ed., 1st print, 1985, 0874160103). Very Good Plus overall, both with rubbing, light bumps, brief creases and foxing. For consenting audiences, for the discriminating collector.
