Harlem Model (First Edition)

New York: Bronze Books 1 / Designs Publishing Corporation, 1952. Paperback Original, first printing. Classy photo cover, featuring a black couple in soft embrace on a green couch. The man is suit and tie, the woman in strapless lavender dress. An essential volume in the "black book" pantheon, about models and modeling agencies of questionable reputation, set in Harlem. "Black books" were those books with interracial, Jim Crow, or overtly African-American (even jungle) themes, placing the black man in white man's situations. The first of only 2 issues from Bronze Books, the other being "Hot Chocolate" by Jesse Lee Carter. Spine lean, light rubbing, a few moderate creases. slight loss to lower tip. Very Good. "The Sexy Digests" p14 (Gary Lovisi, 2008). [Book ID 125008] [Vintage Paperbacks (VP)]
