Hello Buddies (3 vintage illustrated digest magazines)
St. Louis, MO: Fun Parade, 1955-59. Three vintage digest magazines featuring cartoons, all with suggestive humor, an imprint of the Harvey publishing company. Illustrated by many of the eras best cartoonists, Bill Wenzel covers were common, regulars were Bob Tupper, Reamer Keller, Bo Brown, C.G. Troop, Al Kaufman, Rayon, G. Ludway, Lou Calnek, Stan Fine, Pete Wyma, and more. Series ran 1943-60, last issue #100, starting in WWII with photographic covers and internal photos, illustrated covers after the war. Styles resemble syndicated newspaper comics like Chic Young's "Blondie," with a slight provocative twist and cheeky jokes, like the "Humorama" series. Many of the artists were ex-military, experience expressed visually in cartoons with soldiers. Included: N73, January 1956; N80, March 1957; N95, September-October 1959.
All 5 x 7.25 inches, approx. 96pp each, saddle-stapled, color wrappers, B/W throughout, 25 cents cover price, distributed by PDC. Very Good Plus overall, light edge rubbing and toning, short spine tear (73), faint wrinkles to rear (80, 95).
