Joyce Linton dancing in grass skirt (Original showgirl photograph, circa 1940s)
N.p.: N.p., Circa 1940s. Vintage non-nude B/W photograph of Joyce Linton, that name being in pencil on the verso, revealing her slender legs in a long grass skirt, posing w/ hand gracefully upward, a few exotic flowers in her raven hair. Smiling in a white bikini top. Linton was probably a showgirl, or may even had a brief period of performing burlesque or strip tease, but no biographical source could be readily obtained. No photographer credit present.
One can just hear the tropic rhythms, heavy hand-drumming, Latin music often provided w/ strip routines at the time. The two pillars speak more to Joyce having been a showgirl or even B-movie actress, the pillars themselves recalling the work of photographer Murray Korman of New York.
7.5 x 9.5 inches, double-weight, semi-gloss recto silver gelatin. Corners clipped at some point. Very Good, light soil & toning. [Book ID 125985] [Photographs]
