Thompson, Jim (contributor)
New York: Master Detective. V34 N4, June 1946. 104 pp., b/w/color throughout. Vintage true-crime and exploitation magazine featuring an article called "The Dark Stair," by Count Evidence Office Chester L. Stacey with Jim Thompson (likely only Thompson at work). The article covers the murder of a man who "fell" down a flight of stairs and wedged his head in a doorway. Thompson had, to date, already published one novel, "Now and on Earth," and his second novel "Heed the Thunder" came the year of this article. This article appearance is very likely one of Thompson's earliest, after a few instances in small-press publications beginning in the early 1930s. Another notable appearance is by William Lindsay Gresham, a tragic case of lost talent, author of the impeccable "Nightmare Alley", published the year of this article. J. Edgar Hoover shows up here too. Very Good, spine roll, foxing, a few tiny tears and chips, still quite nice. [Book ID 125478] [Magazines]
