Midnight, Snap, Tonight (3 adult magazine color separations, Terry Higgins)
Midnight, Snap, Tonight (3 vintage adult magazine cover color separations featuring Terry Higgins, 1959-61)
Los Angeles, CA: American Art Agency, 1959-61. Three vintage adult magazine cover proofs, color separations printed by Alfred S. Johnson, Inc., all featuring Terry Higgins, a fantastic gallery of the sultry blond pinup model who's become a unique icon of vintage erotica. She'd briefly thrive as Las Vegas showgirl after modeling.
Each proof is composed of several lithograph sheets representing the final cover design, and variant color schemes: cyan, magenta, yellow, black (CMYK), through "process color separation" (mixing colors to produce infinite color varieties). Magazine titles & blurbs were often present on the proof sheets; each proof reads like a flipbook of a single scintillating image in various colors, presumably from 1 or 2 photo sessions. These magazines featured nude models throughout, reserving clad, non-nude women for the covers.
