Nine full-page illus., 4 in color, with 2 vignette illus. for each chapter. The Man of Steel's life story, from Jor-el and the Space Ship, to reviving old dead men from watery graves, combat skeletons, and more. Jacket blurbs echo pro-USA attitudes & propaganda during WWII, as does the Armed Services paperback edition (also 1942), when the world needed a hero. Several copies float about, but unmarred copies disappearing faster than a speeding bullet. Reprinted by Applewood Books (1995). Near Fine in Very Good jacket, light toning and corner bumps, small seller label (Lazarus) on the rear pastedown; jacket with moderate spine foxing, light rubbing, and short edge tears/chips/creases.
