The Road to Repentance, and Madoline (3 Vintage magazines)

Long Beach, CA: Bon-Vue Enterprises, 1990s. Three vintage magazines, all first printing, saddle-stapled quarto softcover, 2 from Bon-Vue in full-color throughout, and a European edition of Madoline 2 from Magic Strip, printed in France and copyright in Switzerland. From the estate of Andrew J. Offutt, with his minor highlighting and brief ink notations on two adhesive slips in the Magic Strip edition.

Pichard was a notable French comics artist in the 1960s and 1970s, illustrating women in various stages of bondage, flagellation, intricate apparatuses, role-playing, and historical settings. Here, his trademark gothic and De Sade-like style is seen in original b/w French, and in updated, translated color editions. Included: The Road to Repentance (1994, color, glossy), Madoline #2 (1997, color, glossy), Madoline #2 (Magic Strip, [1980s]).

Offutt, whose books emulate the work of Pichard and similar artists, was an avid science fiction author noted for "Conan"-themed fantasies, and wrote 100s of erotic novels under pseudonyms John Cleve, Turk Winter, John Denis, Opal Andrews, etc.; Winter was a name attached to his more violent novels, including the "Blunder Broad" comics series he produced with Eric Stanton, akin to the bondage themes of Pichard. For consenting, discriminating mature collectors, recalling the erotic underground of Bishop, Eugene Bilbrew, Eric Stanton, and John Willie.

Very Good Plus overall, light rubbing and faint corner bumps, and Magic Strip with brief stains, lacking original wrapper and pp 29-30, 35-38.
